Here's what we've been up to...

"I knew I could count on you..."

"I knew I could count on you..."

…that’s the kind of email I love to receive!

A few days ago, I received a request from a board member of one of our top clients. He wanted graphic work on a project for his church. He sent me the email and I got right to work on it (see graphics work above).

Here’s why I bring this up – not to brag, but to point out the difference between a small company, like ours, and a big production house – personalized service with a quick turnaround.

We choose our clients carefully – we’re not for everyone and everyone is not for us. Most big companies will take your project regardless of whether your needs fit their capabilities or not, and depending on how “big” or “worthy” you are, they’ll either handle it personally, or – more likely – farm your business out to freelancers or newbies who may or may not do good work for what little pay they receive from the big company. We’ve been freelancers for the big guys before…we know how it works. They receive thousands from you and pay the freelancers pennies on the dollar to do most of the work. Freelancers getting paid pennies and doing most of the work almost guarantees shoddy work…unless that freelancer is full of personal integrity – and how can you know that if you’ve never met them?! The big company then takes that freelancer work – no matter how crappy – and gives it to you as if they did it all themselves. Very rarely will they allow changes. You are just another number to them.

Here at Colorado Digital Video, we’ll make sure we’re a match for you first. Then we get to work…and when I say “we” I mean WE: myself, my wife (and biz partner), my sons (professional sound engineers), and a few college interns to handle the small tasks. It’s all in-house…we farm out NOTHING unless by your request. This ensures that every project that leaves our office and hits your desk is flawless. Our reputation depends on it, and we know it. Plus – we answer to a higher power…our work is something we’d be confident in giving to God as His finished product! Seriously!

After we finish your project, we give you a first draft to check first. You send back one list of changes, and then we give you back the final draft. This process ensures that you’ll never pay for something that you don’t like.

The bottom line is, if you want it done well, choose your company wisely. Just because a production company is big, doesn’t mean it’s better. In fact, most of the time it’s the little guy who gets results like this (above), which prompts your reaction…something like this:

My first pass on this is - you hit it out of the park.  I will be discussing with the Bishop and his staff later today and get their feedback.  I knew I could count on you.

We’re blessed to have this partnership with you.”
